Make the task reproducible
Warehouse work is too broad. Specify a bin, permitted mass, pickup and placement positions and tolerances. Record floor, lighting and pedestrian conditions. Agree variation ranges beforehand. Distinguish demonstration conditions from daily operation. Supplier and customer must assess the same outcome.
Measure the whole cycle and every intervention
Time from task readiness through correct placement and readiness for the next cycle. Include retries, resets, grasp corrections and operator waits. Report attempts and successes, not percentages alone. Compare median and slower cycles. Agree sample size based on variability and task risk rather than a universal threshold.
Test recovery
Evaluate missed grasps, battery depletion and communication interruptions within an agreed safe plan. Observe diagnostics, response times and service access. Check whether locally trained staff can restore operation using instructions. If manufacturer support is essential, match support coverage to operating hours.
Decide from the report
Report configuration, software, all trials, operator involvement, limitations and open work. Compare with today’s workflow and full operating cost. Choose expansion, a further limited stage or termination. A promised feature does not satisfy an unmet criterion. Retest affected functions after updates.
