HUMANOIDS / MARKET GUIDE

A humanoid in the warehouse: choosing the first task

Start with the tote, grasp and destination before comparing a humanoid with an AMR.

Transport and manipulation are different tasks

An AMR can move a platform without picking a tote from a rack. A humanoid adds manipulation but introduces grasp and balance requirements. Identify the step that actually creates cost or a bottleneck.

Build a representative load set

Include mass, packaging deformation, handles and offset centres of gravity. Test empty and partly filled totes too. The easiest case must not replace the task distribution of a real shift.

Evaluate the complete route

Count pickup, travel, placement, waiting and return. Record recovery after errors and impact on the next station. Only this complete cycle can be compared with current team work.
